Morning Frost

Early morning this time of year presents great light, back lighting, frost and dew.  Went over to Five Rivers in Delmar with my Nikon D200, Tokina 100m ATX 2.8 PRO-D macro lens and Nikon 600SB-Speedlight.  Beautiful experience.  I am happy with the images.  Settings were ISO 500, F13, 1/200sec. AWB, flash at 1/64 power.  All on a Stroboframe bracket.  Enjoy, Jeff

Today's Insects

Wasp

Honeybee

Honeybee

I am really learning how to use the Tokina 100mm AT-X Macro Pro-D lens on my Nikon D200 with the Nikon SB- 600 Flash.  I first get a rough manual focus and then switch to AF with the clutch mechanism of the lens.  This helps nail a sharper image.  The flash fires at 1/64 power, just enough with the 1/200 shutter at f13 to stop my and the bug's motion. Really happy with the detail of this lens and set-up!  Enjoy, Jeff
