 Russian Dolls shot  and edited with iPhone 4 in Camera+(top).  Below shot with Fuji X10 in Macro mode, AWB.  The differences are obvious and each creates a different feeling, the first more playful, the second more precise and "photographic". What appeals to one person may not appeal to another.  The important thing in your photography is to photograph to please yourself.  If that is accomplished, you have done a lot.  Enjoy, Jeff

Street Lamps

Shot with iPhone 4 in HDR PRO, cropped and artsified in Photoforge Soft frame in PS Express. Shot at 2PM placing the lamps directly in front of the bright sun. An example of true backlighting to create an image with pop. Enjoy, Jeff

You all know how much I love working with my iPhone and creating Artsy Images. This is an example of why Smartphones, like the iPhone have created a paradigm shift in Personal Photography. You drive by a gloomy willow in a frozen pond, you have your Best Camera with you, snap a few shots. Later when you have some time you edit and play with the image until you get something that is pleasing. This image was developed in Photoforge where I adjusted the levels to create more contrast, added a bit of watercolor and oil filters, then vignette. Sent it next to PS Express for the frame. Whew, what fun! Enjoy, Jeff

Hay Rolls

I saw this field this morning. I was reminded of the importance of farming in America. Shot this with my iPhone ( the camera always with me) in Camera+, further edited in Wood camera and Snapseed for filters. The birds were added in Wood camera, one of the coolest filters I have seen.

Before my Smart/camera phone I had to carry a regular cell phone and sometimes when I felt like carrying, a pocket digital camera. In the film days it was a Rollie Prego 35mm ( which is a great pocket camera), Needless to say I often tired of two items on my belt that always were getting knocked off when I sat in an armed chair! When the iPhone came along, I saw the wisdom in getting one and have never looked back.

Not only do you have a phone, but a decent camera now and the ability to edit on the fly, artsify and upload your images to your Blog , Facebook, Twitter, Picassa and other social media, as well as emailing pics to your friends.

It is a great time to be a photographer! Enjoy, Jeff

iPhone Street Photography

Shot with an iPhone 4 using the volume up button on the earphones as a cable release, the iPhone becomes a stealth camera for the street. It looks like a phone, like you are listening to music, not using a camera.

Capturing the rush in the snow, the urgency to get indoors made a good street shot. I like a more uncluttered street image, emphasizing the main subject. Angling the camera up helps. The image was processed from color in Simply B&W for the final result. Enjoy, Jeff

Oil Slick Abstract

Oil slicks! After a rain they are all over parking lots. I saw this one today, shot it with my iPhone Edited in Photoforge till I liked it. Enjoy, Jeff

Moo Cows

A found shot near Hudson NY. Who could pass up a shot of fake cows! I used the iPhone 4 and processed it in Camera+. In Camera+ I added some punch with Clarity and a Polarizer effect. I walked around the scene to get what I thought was the best composition. Best composition includes little in the way of distracting elements in the scene as well as an area of foreground interest that then allows the viewer's eye to wander back through the photo. The Gas Pumps

I frequently bike by these old gas pumps on Font Grove Road. This time I shot from ground up using my iPhone and True HDR , processing in Snapseed for a combined vintage and grunge result. Enjoy, Jeff

iphone Madness

The great joy in iPhoneography is the limitless creative fun one can have with an ordinary image. These colorful gum ball machines were snapped at the mall. The I put the image through Blur Fx, masking the blue gum balls from the blur. I used a Gaussian blur at 75%, boosted saturation and contrast. Next the image went to Photoforge to get a combined watercolor and oil painting overlay. From there to LoMob for a postcard look. Then I picked a pink color from the Benjamin Moore paint selection App, snapped a photo of it in the iPhone. Last step was using Blender to combine the images using Overlay at 75% to add the touch of pink. Voila!

iPhone Close-up Portrait

When I saw our grandchildren playing around like this I whipped out my BEST CAMERA, ( the one that is always with you! Thanks Chase Jarvis) and shot this. Originally in color, I put it through B &W Camera, a terrific App, that allows you to apply filters for B & W photography effects. I chose a red filter as it created a more high key, soft glowing image that I really liked. Lesson, always have a camera with you, it will be your best camera. Enjoy, Jeff

The Christman Sanctuary

We had a bit of snow last eve, thus I headed out to one of my favorite nature preserves for some meditation, spiritual connection and of course image making. These three images were shot with the iPhone 4, using True HDR and then further processed in Camera+. There, Clarity and frames finished the work. Enjoy, Jeff
