The Dog

Beautiful day in Albany and found this sweet mixed breed dog in Washington Park.  I had on my 50mm Nikkor set at 1.8 ( really 3.3 with the 1.5 crop APS sensor), focused midway between the eyes and snout as I wanted both to be sharp.  The 50mm lens wide open creates a shallow DOF as noted on the  blurred underside neck and chest region.  Only an SLR (full frame is best) can create this shallow DOF.  Pocket cameras are great for getting everything in focus, but not for this.  Camera was a Fuji Finepix S3Pro, 12MP set at ISO 160, f1.8, and AWB.   Enjoy. Jeff
